One of the aims of the National Digital Library project is to increase competence in digitising and management, preservation and distribution of electronic materials. The project serves as a means to spread this competence also outside participating organisations.
In the library, archive and museum sector, competence development needs are connected to the changes in information and communications technology, developments in the fields of culture and science, manageability of electronic materials as well as the needs of diversifying customer groups. Ensuring competence in the changing operating environment requires sharing of competence, peer learning and monitoring international development trends.
Training organised by the project relates to the public interface and long-term preservation projects and disseminating information on the standards recommended by the project as well as putting them into use in the organisations. In addition to project phases, the training programme is based on the training needs of experts in the library, archive and museum sectors.
The project plans and implements training in collaboration with other organisations and networks. In addition to organising national training and discussion events, the project also cooperates with international development projects and networks.
